Why
“Certified” Organic? Fifty years ago, organic was a moot subject. There
were very few toxic substances used in farming. Now, as everyone is well
aware, there are hundreds of synthetic poisons available to the farmer.
Organic farming, for our purposes, means no large-scale commercial
farming nearby. No products contain GMO’s (Genetically Modified
Organisms). Defining what is and is not Organically grown can not be
left up to individual discretion. Some farmers view synthetics as
"organic" in that they are organic chemicals. This is very misleading to
the consumer who thinks they are purchasing items which have no
synthetics used on them.
Our suppliers are certified as organic growers, handlers and processors;
many by Oregon Tilth, who is accredited under the USDA National Organic Program.
